Typing this blog post while watching the Oscar’s, which is some definite motivation to stay in shape! I mean, these actors and actresses seriously don’t seem to age…they look the exact same year after year! I am a huge fan of awards season, especially this show in particular (Golden Globes is still my favorite), and we like to make it an event every year. We used to always go to a black tie gala/viewing party in Birmingham, but since Asher Wade came along (well, and obviously now we live in Chattanooga), it’s become a more low key night at home. We still make tasty appetizers and enjoy some cocktails and try to make it fun. I miss getting dressed up, but not gonna lie, hanging in my pj’s isn’t the worst thing;)
I mentioned last Monday that the week was going to be a little hectic for me (quarterly board meetings) and I wasn’t sure how much exercise I would be able to fit in, or whether I would be able to stick to my intended workout plan. Even with all my work-related commitments, I’m happy to report that I was able to fit in some sort of exercise every day. Tuesday was my busiest day (and I was super bummed to have to miss my beloved step class), but I was able to sneak over to the indoor walking track (another nice perk that my building has) a few times throughout the day, in between meetings. I would mingle for a little bit, and then head over for a 10 minute brisk walk around the track. I think I did this four times that day…so basically 40 minutes of walking. I used my Fitbit Charge HR to keep track of my mileage and steps. If you are trying to be more active in general, I highly recommend investing in a Fitbit (or something similar). It’s a great tool for keeping your activity levels in check. My everyday goal is to log 10,000 steps at a minimum. On days where I hit the gym at lunch time, this is never an issue and I usually far exceed that goal, but on days like Tuesday, I at least try to hit that target before I go to bed. I’ve become rather OCD about it and there have been many nights before bed where Matt will come upstairs and ask me what in the world all that pounding is. Umm, that’s just me jogging in place trying to hit my steps goal. There was one night a few weeks ago where I had had a busy day and at 9:00 p.m. I only had 5,200 steps logged. I literally ran and jumped around our bedroom for 5,000 steps. The struggle is real, y’all. So is OCD.
So anyways, here are my stats from last week…
Monday 2/22: 40 minutes on the treadmill (alternating between 5.5 and 6.5 mph)…I had a lunch meeting this day, but was able to fit in a treadmill session later that afternoon
Tuesday 2/23: no “formal” workout, but I visited the indoor walking track 4 times throughout the day for at least 10 minutes each time, until I hit my 10,000 steps
Wednesday 2/24: 20 minutes on the treadmill (5.6 mph) and a 45 minute power yoga class
Thursday 2/25: 20 minutes on the treadmill (5.8 mph) and a 45 minute total body training class (mainly using dumb bells)
Friday 2/26: 20 minutes on the treadmill (6.0 mph) and a 30 minute PIYO class (Pilates and yoga style exercises, at a fast pace)
Saturday 2/27: 40 minute walk around the neighborhood; probably 3.5 miles or so
Sunday 2/28: 7 mile walk along the river, pushing AW in the stroller, so a workout for sure!
All in all, a good week, although I slacked in the yoga department. I missed my Sunday evening class, but we had a wonderful family day and night, so I don’t regret missing it. Will have to try and fit in a practice tomorrow.
How did you do on your exercise this week??
