Motivation Monday {Week 4}

{A little late getting this up, but it is still Monday…}

My foot is continuing to heal, thank goodness.  I was able to get back to my usual level of exercise last week.  Even with some curveballs thrown at me thanks to a sick toddler and some unexpected meetings, I still exercised every day.  My diet was a little wonky throughout the week…hello PMS and my monthly visitor, which always makes me want to eat everything (unhealthy) in sight.  Grrrr.  I randomly bought a big slice of carrot cake from the cafeteria for no reason other than the fact that it was Wednesday.  Then someone brought in a truck load of Russell Stover chocolates one day.  Like those ones that come in the box with the little picture diagram showing the various flavors.  Those strawberry cream ones are my weakness.  Matt and I also splurged on wine AND dessert on date night, which we normally don’t do (I like to choose either wine or dessert, but not both).  Not my finest week as far as the diet goes.  It’s easy to fall off the wagon, but it’s not the end of the world by any means.  It’s just as easy to get back on it, which is exactly what I intend to do this week.

Anyways, here are my exercise stats from the past week:

Monday 3/7: 20 minutes on the treadmill (6.0 mph) and a 30 minute “Chisel” class, which is basically all weight training

Tuesday 3/8: I stayed home with a sick Asher Wade today.  Bummed to miss my usual step class, but obviously it was more important to take care of my little guy.  I did pop him in the stroller that afternoon and took a 45 minute walk around the neighborhood. It was warm and sunny and made us both feel better!  Pushing that stroller is a good workout too!

Wednesday 3/9: Ugh, got tied up in a meeting and had to miss my usual yoga class (Seriously, what’s up with this week?!), but I was able to sneak down later that day for a 40 minute run on the treadmill (5.8 mph) and then 15 minutes of some light yoga on my own.

Thursday 3/10: 15 minutes on the treadmill (5.8 mph) and a 45 minute total body training class (all upper body weight training)

Friday 3/11: 15 minutes on the stationary bike (level 6), 15 minutes on the treadmill (5.8 mph) and a 30 minute PIYO class

Saturday 3/12: 30 minute walk around the neighborhood after dinner, but we were also pretty active that morning while walking around downtown

Sunday 3/13: 15 minute walk outside and a 75 minute hot, power yoga class

I also thought I would share a little healthy’ish treat that we made on Sunday morning.  Our family is crazy about donuts.  It’s like the ultimate guilty pleasure for all of us.  If I had to pick my last meal, it would honestly be a plate of warm, old fashioned sour cream donuts.  There was a donut shop in Birmingham that seriously had the best ones ever (Daylight Donuts on Rocky Ridge), but there’s also a donut shop here in Chattanooga (Julie Darling’s) that has some pretty good sour cream donuts.  Asher Wade loves him a good donut as well.  He can literally spot a donut shop a mile away and starts yelling for “do-do’s.”  I recently snagged a donut pan off Amazon for 9 bucks thinking that we would try to make some baked donuts, in the hopes that we’d find a healthier alternative to the fried goodness.  After searching on Pinterest I came across a recipe for baked sour cream donuts and we decided to test it out.  While you could certainly tell they were baked rather than fried (shocker), they were still a pretty good substitute and definitely a lot lower in fat in calories.  Asher Wade really enjoyed decorating them, so it was a fun cooking activity that he could get involved with as well.  Recipe is linked here in case you’d like to try it:-)
