I definitely had one of those weeks where I was feeling tired and worn-out and just didn’t feel motivated to workout at all, but I did it anyways. On days where I’m just not feeling it, I always tell myself that I’ll at least go run on the treadmill for 15 minutes, and if I want to stop after that, I will, and not feel guilty about it because obviously that means my body needs the rest. However, 99% of the time those endorphins start kicking in and I get the boost of energy I need to finish a full workout or class. I also find that when I am feeling sluggish like this, if I switch things up a little, it changes my attitude and gives me some motivation. I switched up my cardio this week and also my usual classes. Matt and I were out of town for the weekend, so that forced a little bit of change as well, which was welcomed. By the time the weekend rolled around I had a lot more energy, which was a good thing because lawdy did I ever need it! I will post more tomorrow about our weekend getaway, but let’s just say it was equal parts fun and exhausting!
Monday: Skipped all the exercise classes and did some cardio circuits instead utilizing the bike, treadmill and elliptical…15 minutes on bike, 20 minutes on elliptical and 15 minutes on treadmill (5.8 mph).
Tuesday: 15 minutes on the treadmill (5.8 mph) followed by a 30 minute step class and then 15 minutes of ab exercises.
Wednesday: 30 minute HIIT class (high intensity cardio intervals with rest periods in between) and 20 minutes of strength training on my own using free weights.
Thursday: 45 minute yoga class AND I ended up going to Orange Theory Fitness that evening for a major butt kicking!
Friday: Got in a quick workout before leaving town and did a 20 minute run on the treadmill (5.8 mph) followed by a 30 minute Sports Drill class (alternating between strength and cardio intervals). Not to mention I stood for the majority of a 5-hour concert later that night!
Saturday: Matt and I got up that morning and visited one of our favorite running routes in Birmingham…jogged/walked for almost 6 miles.
Sunday: The majority of the day was spent in the car since we had to drive to Nashville to meet Matt’s parents to collect Asher Wade, and then drive home, but I did go for a 45 minute walk around the neighborhood that evening.
And now here we are at the start of another week! Happy Monday, y’all!
