I swear, every day last week felt like a Monday. Do you ever have weeks like that? It just seemed to drag and drag, yet I was busy each day, just like a typical Monday. Normally, a busy day = a fast day, but that was not the case last week, and despite having a lot going on, each day seemed to drag. Needless to say, I was happy when the weekend got here and now I’m hoping this week isn’t quite so rough.
Good thing I track my workouts on My Fitness Pal and can easily go back to look and see what I did, because I honestly don’t remember! I usually update this post throughout the week so when Monday morning rolls around, it’s ready to go, but again, busy last week. So here I am on Sunday night, scrolling through my app to see what in the heck I did. Workouts looked like this…
Monday 8/1: 20 minutes on the treadmill (5.8-6.0 mph) and a 30 minute “Chisel” class (all weight training, focusing on chest, back and legs)
Tuesday 8/2: 30 minute Step class, 15 minutes of core exercises and 15 minutes of weight training (back, shoulders and triceps)
Wednesday 8/3: Had lunch plans today so I went down after work and ran on the treadmill for 35 minutes (5.8-6.0 mph)
Thursday 8/4: 15 minutes on the treadmill (5.8-6.0 mph) followed by a 45 minute “Total Body Training” class (all strength training with weights, primarily upper body)
Friday 8/5: 20 minutes on the elliptical followed by a 45 minute “Sports Drill” class (utilizing “stations” and jumping from upper body strength training, lower body strength training, cardio intervals and core exercises)
Saturday 8/6: 1 hour+ walk along the river, pushing a 40 lb. toddler in a stroller
Sunday 8/7: 60 minute Orangetheory Fitness class that kicked my booty
Since I’m several days post Whole30, I thought I’d provide a little update on that as well. Let’s just say I’ve been spending a lot of time in the bathroom. TMI? Sorry, just being honest. Seriously though, my stomach has been so upset. I was relatively careful about adding things back in, but I guess I still didn’t take it slow enough. The main mistake I made was not introducing one non-compliant food at a time. I thought I did OK on Wednesday because I only had some plain oatmeal that morning (a grain) and then stayed Whole30 the rest of the day (I may have had a few gluten free pretzels (still a grain though) that evening…can’t remember). Thursday night I took AW to get frozen yogurt after school and I had some myself. So basically I had both dairy and sugar that day. Friday I had to rush to a meeting after my workout, so I grabbed a Quest bar to eat on the run (dairy, sucralose, and stevia). Then that night we went to dinner with friends and I had a little veggie pizza (dairy and gluten). Honestly though, I was already feeling bad by Thursday mid-day, and then it just got worse. I can’t quite pinpoint what the trigger actually was. All I know is that I’ve had a VERY upset stomach since Thursday. If I had to guess I’d say it was the dairy, because I’ve had dairy sensitivities before, but I’m also kind of questioning the artificial sweeteners, particularly in the Quest bars. So anyways, I’m going to cut out the dairy and sweeteners over the next few days and see if that makes a difference. I just want to feel better. But I want my frozen yogurt too! The struggle is definitely real, y’all.
On another note, we got our first Green Chef delivery the other day. We had been subscribing to Blue Apron for awhile, but put it on hold while I was doing Whole30 because there weren’t any options that I could eat. During Whole30 a friend told me about Green Chef and noted that it offered more dietary plans and options than BA, including vegan and Paleo options. BA only offers a vegetarian option, and while the meals were always delicious, we found them to be a little heavy and kind of time consuming to make (especially the prep). My friend also mentioned that Green Chef does a lot of the prep for you, like providing pre-chopped and pre-diced veggies and pre-mixed sauces. When I unpacked our first order on Friday I was very happy to see pre-diced onion (Matt was especially happy since that task usually falls on him) and pre-mixed sauces and spice mixtures. I could already tell it was going to be much less labor intensive. We made our first meal last night (edamame falafel with brown rice noodles) and it was delicious. Probably beat any meal we’ve had from BA. Plus it was 100% organic and vegan. We had plenty of leftovers too, so I have lunch today. Each meal is about $10 more than BA, so that’s the one negative, but I honestly love that everything is organic and the fact that they have the additional dietary plans, so I think we’ll stick with it for awhile.
I think that it’s for today! Hope everyone has a great Monday and a great week!
